This, my first recording project, is truly a labor of love. I am in love with all the songs, whether original or borrowed. Some, with no disrespect to the others, deserve special mention.

Montreux Morning is my attempt to describe in music the joy and amazement I felt awakening to a view of the morning sun rising up from behind the Alps on a visit to Montreux, Switzerland. A vivid and exhilarating sight!

I grew up listening to the Motown Sound and that is elemental in my music development. Those remarkable lyrics, melodies, rhythms and artists have given us a virtual treasure chest of beautiful songs. How wonderful to re-discover some of the lesser-known (and less often recorded) jewels.

Still Water (Love) and Don't Mess With Bill are among those precious treasures that deserve to be brought back into the light.

Finally, I decided the hauntingly beautiful Every Time We Say Goodbye, to my dear friend, the brilliant pianist, Mel Rencher. This personal favorite took on a special meaning with Mel's untimely passing in 1999. I was lucky to have him record this song with me for this project. Luckier still to have him as a friend, Thank you, Mel ... Goodbye.
